What is Helpcenter?

The “Helpcenter” addresses sexual health issues for people who are at high risk of becoming infected with HIV and/or STI (sexual transmitted infections).
We focus on offering a ‘low threshold’ service with consultations for people with multiple sexual partners and/or people originating from endemic areas where HIV occurs frequently.

We realize that there may be several reasons for not wanting to involve your own physician or general practitioner: financial problems, taboo, or perhaps you are not sure that your privacy is sufficiently protected. “Helpcenter” can act as an alternative to you, although we do want to stress that we don’t replace your physician.

At “Helpcenter” we specialize in helping you with problems and questions about HIV and issues related to your sexual health. For general health issues you have to consult your regular physician.
“Helpcenter” has been set up by the Institute of Tropical Medicine (ITM).

Target population

It is important to know that our “Helpcenter” is especially available for:

  • Men having sex with men
  • Immigrants from countries where IV is common
  • Persons running a high risk to become hiv infected and who have no/or restricted access to regular health care
  • Young people having unprotected sex with many different sexual partners.
